Premium denim is very popular and expensive, but it can be altered without compromising its appearance.  A common problem with the fit of jeans is that the waist is too large.  Women have to buy the size that fits their hip, which often results in a large gap at the back of the waist.  This can be resolved without changing the character of the jean.  The waistband is removed in the back of the pant and the side seams adjusted slightly, replacing topstitching as needed.  The waistband is taken in at the center back which creates a seam which will be hidden under the belt loop. The waistband is sewn back on easing in the excess fabric, and the topstitching is redone with thread matching the original color as closely as possible.

The original hem on jeans can also be sewn back on, saving the distressed finish that the jean comes with.  That distressed, worn look is the reason that premium demin costs as much as it does!
